Secundo Huertas Aguiar
(1923- )
Secundo Huertas Aguiar was born in San Juan, Argentina in 1923. Preferring the rural countryside to major cities, Aguiar found comfort and artistic inspiration hiking throughout the mountains of his native country.
Secunda Huerates Aguiar said he always felt the closest to God when he was the closest to nature. His love of nature is felt throughout his work.
Fleeing political persecution, Secunda Huertas Aguiar moved to Chicago in 1965 at the behest of the Ukrainian community. It was the Ukrainian community of Chicago that made his transition to America bearable. He made his first money in America painting portraits for prominent members of the Ukrainian community.
Although a highly praised portrait painter, Aguiar’s first love was and still remains the countryside. Aguiar has traveled extensively throughout the United States garnering inspiration for his exquisite landscapes.
Aguiar’s work is exhibited in 27 galleries in America as well as many national and international museums. Exhibits of his work are held annually in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
